Mission Statement

CTAP Meeting
Washington, DC

IEEE-USA's Committee on Transportation and Aerospace Policy (CTAP) was chartered to contribute to the formulation of sound aeronautics and astronautics technology legislation, regulation and policy in the United States.  The committee's scope has been expanded to include aviation, intelligent transportation and other air, space and ground transportation related issues.  The committee also coordinates IEEE-USA's participation in the Aviation R&D Coalition.


Priority Issues

The following priority issues have been identified for committee focus in 2007:

  • Innovation and Competitiveness in U.S. Aviation and Aeronautics
  • Applications of Technology to Enhance Transportation Security
  • Application of Science & Technology to Enhance US Aerospace Leadership

Policy Communications

  • Letter to Rep. Rohrabacher endorsing continued operation of the Arecibo
    Observatory
    by NSF and NASA, including the radio astronomy and the NEO radar missions. 8 November 2007

Unless otherwise indicated, all meetings are held in the IEEE-USA Conference Room, 1828 L Street, N.W, Suite 1202 in Washington, DC.  


How to Participate

The Committee on Transportation and Aerospace Policy (CTAP) invites IEEE U.S. members who have an interest in public policy coupled with expertise in the field of aerospace, astronautics, aviation technology, and/or other transportation modes (including surface transportation, rail and Maglev) and who are willing to be active contributors to the committee's activities to join the committee as an Internet Corresponding Member. As an ICM, you will be invited to recommend committee activities, comment on draft position statements and testimonies, and otherwise participate in the business of the committee. To become an ICM, please provide a brief description of your interest and expertise in this area (no more that 250 words) and submit to:
