Committee on Communications Policy (CCP)

 

Mission Statement

The Committee on Communications Policy (CCP) promotes formulation of sound legislation, regulation and policies relating to communications technologies. Committee members have focused on such issues as spectrum efficiency, high-performance computing, RFID, digital high-resolution systems, personal communications systems, and privacy.

Participation

CCP invites IEEE U.S. members who have and interest in public policy coupled with expertise in the field of computers, communications, and Internet technology and who are willing to be active contributors to the committee's activities to join the committee as an Internet Corresponding Member. As an ICM, you will be invited to recommend committee activities, comment on draft position statements and testimonies, and otherwise participate in the business of the committee. To become an ICM, please provide a brief description of your interest and expertise in this area (no more that 250 words) and submit to:

RFID Technology Council Established
The ad-hoc RFID Technology Council was established
in 2006 to support the U.S. Senate RFID Caucus in promoting understanding of radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies and their impact on the U.S. and  world economies. The Council will also educate Members of Congress, governmental agencies and the general public on the uses of and issues relating to RFID. Senators John Cornyn and Byron Dorgan co-chair the caucus. The second IEEE International Conference on RFID 2008 was held on April 16-17, at The Venetian, Las Vegas, Nevada.

The IEEE International Conference on RFID 2007 was held 28-29 March 2007 at the Texan Gaylord Resort, Grapevine, Texas.
This is the first in a series of annual conferences dedicated to address the technical and policy challenges in the areas of radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies, their supporting large-scale distributed information systems, and their applications.

This conference is sponsored by IEEE-USA, IEEE New Technology Directions Committee,
IEEE Region 5. The technical co-Sponsors are: University of Texas - Arlington, IEEE Circuits & Systems Society, IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Electron Devices Society, and the IEEE Social Implications of Technology Society.
