Mr. Clay Johnson
Director of Appointments
President George W. Bush
The White House
Washington, DC 20502

Dear Mr. Johnson:

I am writing on behalf of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – United States of America to recommend Dr. Kumar Krishen for appointment to a position in the President’s Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Currently chief technologist in the Technology Transfer and Commercialization Office at the NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Dr. Krishen is an accomplished engineer, manager, and educator with over 30 years of experience in academia, government, and industry. His scientific and technical expertise coupled with his practical experience in helping the private sector to transfer and utilize technology give him a unique and valuable perspective on opportunities for high level collaboration between the academic, commercial, and government/military sectors. His background has also given him an appreciation of the important roles that science and technology can play in meeting our national needs in areas as diverse as education, national security, and health.

IEEE-USA is particularly pleased to endorse Dr. Krishen, who is a Senior Member of the Institute and has rendered valuable service to our technical and professional programs. Based on his qualifications, volunteer contributions, and professional accomplishments, we believe that he would make a valuable addition to President Bush’s Administration in the area of science and technology.

Sincerely,

Ned. R. Sauthoff, Ph.D.
President, IEEE-USA
