The 15th
Annual SET Congressional Visits Day
Forty IEEE members joined the 270 scientists and engineers
participating in the 2010 Science, Engineering and
Technology Congressional Visits Day, which was held on 28-29
April in Washington. CVD provides an opportunity for U.S.
IEEE members to interact with their representatives in
Congress on issues related to R&D, innovation and U.S.
technological competitiveness. IEEE members participated in
a total of 72 congressional visits to encourage federal
investments in research and development. During the CVD
reception, IEEE-USA President Evelyn Hirt presented U.S.
Representatives David Wu, Chair, Subcommittee on Technology
& Innovation, House Committee on Science & Technology; and
Ralph Hall, Ranking Member, House Committee on Science &
Technology, with the George E. Brown, Jr. Memorial Award for
Science, Engineering and Technology Leadership.
